DECEMBER Favorites

10:03:00 PM

I'm gonna do a separate "Best Products of 2013" post soon in which I will feature 12 products that I think is the Best Findings for me during the year 2013. I will basically review all my monthly favorite posts during this whole year and will pick some of the best from those monthly list. Meanwhile, here is my December Favorite list, the last monthly faves post of this year..

I started to re-use some of my old products that's been sitting on my vanity for a while, which I finally able to take notice of their potentials. Apparently I somehow found a new way to use them that actually compliment my complexion.

I also started to open up and use new products that I think worth to mention here in this monthly favorites post. Aside of that, I also found a new combination for lip colors that always strikes a positive comment anytime I wore that combination ;)

Here's the full list of my December Favorites:
In no particular order:
Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in Mat 1
MAC SuperGlass in Totally Bang!
Sampar Prodigal Pen
Aigner Debut Eau de Parfum
Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter
Philosophy Amazing Grace Shimmering Face Powder
Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Buffing Brush
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in Jungle Gem

If you subscribed through my twitter or instagram, you might remember how I raved about this one specific product that can literally reduce the appearance of my bulging acne in just one night! I applied it before I went to bed and in the morning I found that my huge zit is already calmed down and the redness is greatly reduced. Since that, I am a true believer of this Sampar Prodigal Pen [reviewed HERE]. It's mini size with roll-on pen shape makes it super practical to bring anywhere, and the herbal concoction inside is proven to calm down the angry blemishes.

Other new product that I have tried and fell in love instantly during December is the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Nail Polish in Jungle Gem shade [reviewed HERE]. This is a unique and intriguing teal shade which looks a bit intimidating on the bottle but looks absolutely beautiful on my fingers. Somehow it also makes my hands look a bit brighter when I put these on :) A total love for me.

Another new product that I opened is the Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate. I have heard about this amazing stuff and been saving it in my drawer for many months. But when I lost my Burts Bees Lip Balm and my EOS Pomegranate didn't work  as well as my previous EOS Summer Fruit, I decided to open another lip balm which would cure my then severe dry lips. I pick up this Korres Lip Butter from my stash and now I know why those who have tried this clearly stated their love for it. This colored lip balm has the most amazing formula. It's smooth and thin yet super moisturizing without leaving a residue. I only use this twice to see that it actually works for my severe dry lips. The pomegranate color is also a nice subtle red shade that gives a healthy look to my lips.

Now on to the older items, I love love love this Real Techniques Buffing Brush that I got from the Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Core Collection Brush Set. The set include four types of brushes in medium travel sizes, and this Buffing brush is the only brush from that set that I wear everyday. I actually been wanting to put this brush in my monthly faves since a few months ago but I seem to forget it, so now I am definitely featuring this amazing brush. If you could have only one brush from the collection I would suggest this Buffing Brush, because although this was meant for powder or mineral foundation but I find that you can wear this with literally any type of base. I used it with my liquid foundation, my BB and CC Creams (liquid and sticks), and also my compact powder. And it worked just as great! There's a definite difference from when I use this brush compared to other brushes that I've used before to apply my base.

Another item that I want to feature today is my newest favorite fragrance which is the Aigner Debut Eau de Parfum [reviewed HERE] which I was recently introduced at their launching event. This is definitely a favorite because this smells sooo wonderful to my nose (and this is hubby's most fave amongst all my perfumes too). The classic bottle with the sheer pink liquid inside it just adds the charm of this very lovely perfume. Aigner Debut is a floral oriental perfume with a fresh sweet scent that is followed by a warm base. It smells luxurious and very high-class ^o^

Back to the old products, there is one product that I always have on my vanity because of its pretty packaging, and that is the Philosophy Amazing Grace Shimmering Face Powder. It is from the Philosophy's Color of Grace collection which originated from a long time ago. At first, I only used it a few times since I got it because I didn't really know what to do with this shimmery pink powder. I have a medium tan skin so I'm afraid that this pink powder would cancel the yellow undertone on my skin if I use this as face powder. Pinks are usually more suitable for those with blue undertones so that's why I didn't use this very often at the beginning. But for the last two months I have been enjoying using this as I found a new way to wear it. I use it for contour/highlighter instead, so I apply this on top of my blush. I also use this to highlight my nose bridge and it's also perfect to apply just above that cupid's bow ;)

Last but not least, I recently found a new mix of lip colors that accentuate my complexion. I always like to apply a lip gloss layered over matte lipstick, and lately I've been wearing a mix of this Maybelline Bold Matte Lipstick in Mat 1 (a bright pink shade) layered with Mac SuperGlass in Totally Bang! (a mauve-ish fuchsia lipgloss with shimmers). Whenever I use this new combination of lip colors I always get positive comments or people asking what lip colors I'm wearing. This combination is also a fail-proof color for photos ;p

That's it for my December Favorites. As I told you above, I will do another separate post featuring 12 Best Products of the Year which is basically products that "change my life" during 2012. I have been wanting to do this since last year but failed to execute it. So this year I'm gonna really do it and hopefully this can be a regular yearly post in this blog too.

Meanwhile, do you also have monthly favorites post? Let me know in the comment below so I can read it too.

  1. Your favourites seem great! I saw Korres lip balm on Luxola but I've always hesitated to put it on my cart. I should try it (I realize that reading too many beauty posts is not good for my wallet ;p)! As for your Real Techniques brushes, where did you buy it? Now that I've tried the Sigma ones, it would be great to try the Real Techniques ones :)
Anyway, no plan for me for New Year's Eve. Maybe just jalan-jalan di Jakarta, dekat Monas ;) Never been there yet.
    What are your plans?

  2. Hai Lucie, You should try the Korres lip balm indeed, LOL. Anyway, I got my real techniques brush set from zalora.co.id - they are now stocking up on makeup brushes such as RT, Sigma, Ecotools, and so on.. ;)

Oh and how did your NYE goes? Did you ever get to Monas? It's super crowded there, is it? I saw the photos of Sudirman/Thamrin area and it is soo crowded and full with people ;)

  3. I went to Bundaran HI. But it was so crowded that I eventually went back home and looked at fireworks near my apartment. I'm glad I saw how most people spend NYE in Jakarta though! :)
