Review: Skin Food Black Sugar Wash Off Mask

8:51:00 AM

Remember my post about the stuffs I got from Korea Buys HERE? I got four items from Korea Buys which are: the Tony Moly Pure Aura CC Cream, Tony Moly Backstage Eyeliner, Tony Moly Tangerine Hand Cream, and Skin Food Black Sugar Wash Off Mask.

I have reviewed the cute Tony Moly Tangerine Hand Cream a while ago, with it's super cute yellow tangerine shaped packaging! And today I'm gonna review the second item which is the Skin Food Black Sugar Wash Off Mask.

The Skin Food Black Sugar Wash Off Mask is a face mask made of black sugar (hence the name). Skin Food is one of the famous and internationally popular Korean brand which mostly used food ingredients for their products. They believe that special food ingredients contain many nutritional benefit to keep our skin healthy. And this mask is one of the examples. They made it from brown sugar ;p

According to the website:
Skin Food Black Sugar Wash Off Mask is enriched with minerals and vitamins. This face scrub effectively exfoliates dead skin that prevents makeup application, while also revitalizing skin.

This face mask is one of the many Skin Food products that I've always wanted to try since a long time ago but never had the chance to. I mostly did my beauty shopping online so when I try to look for this face mask they always out of stock in my regular online beauty stores, so that's why I never get the chance to really bought and tried it when there were a hype surrounding this product.

But now thanks to Korea Buys I can finally have it and try it myself. I'm so happy to finally have this in my vanity because I kinda like the simple packaging ;)

As you can see above, it is packaged in a simple small tub. Well it's not really that small, actually. It's a medium small if I can say so. It's a 100 grams of product to be exact. It is fully packed up through the lid. You can see on above photo that it has a second lid inside to prevent any spilling.

Well the consistency is pretty dense so I doubt that it will spill, but I guess an extra protection from an extra lid inside is still a good thing.

As the name suggests, it is made of brown sugar (Brazilian brown sugar, to be exact) added with other natural ingredients. It is rich in minerals and vitamins to provide luster and smoothness to the skin. It contains sucrose of Brazilian organic black sugar for deep hydration.

The texture itself is thick and scrubby. It feels great for scrubbing too, especially if you're the type who likes a good hard scrub on your face. I also personally love a face scrub that I can "feel" on my skin, so that I know that it really buffs and scrubs those dead skin cells on my skin, and that's why I prefer a textured scrub more than a soft scrub. But hey, that's just me ;p

You can see from below photos how the texture of this face mask/scrub looks like. It's really textured because it looks like a real brown sugar. It could feel a little bit abrasive on the skin but I just wet my finger with water or toner before scrubbing it on my face to make it feel less abrasive, and then leave it on for several minutes as a face mask.

To Use :
After washing, apply desired amount onto face, avoiding eye and mouth areas. Mix with water or toner to reduce skin irritation, and massage.
Wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then wash off with warm water.

After using this mask my face would instantly have that bright and glowy reflection. It felt clean and plumped. And I didn't feel any tightness on my skin afterwards because this product doesn't dry out the skin. It still retains the moisture inside of our skin, so based from that reason alone I already fell in love with this mask ;)

With a continued use I believe that this mask would give me better skin with a healthy glowy complexion. I started to see a good difference after my 2nd use so I'm gonna keep using this weekly for better results ;)

I also love wash-off mask instead of peel-off mask because I've had bad experiences with peel-off mask before, they hurt so bad when I peeled it off and they also took a long time to peel all of it off my face! But wash-off mask, on the other hand, is super practical. All you have to do is just wash your whole face with warm water after you're done with the mask. I also love to splatter my face with cold water after washing off with warm water. The cold water will help close our pores again after the treatment, and it makes my skin brighter than before :)

Overall, I do recommend this Black Sugar Mask for all of you who loves a face mask and/or a face scrub with a good scrubby texture in it. It is also made from a lot of natural ingredients so it feels just like a natural brown sugar. I also love how it gives a healthy glowy effect after every use, and how it keeps my skin smooth and hydrated.

If you've been thinking of getting this product, it is currently a "ready stock" item and available locally at Korea Buys website.

  4. Wow, that mask looks nice. Is it okay to use it on acne prone face?

  5. @pherdita: I'm not sure but you can try it as a face mask first before scrubbing it to the skin. If you have active acne on the skin I wouldn't recommend it because it's a little bit abrasive ;)

  7. @Red Sakura: Thank you dear.. :) Well I actually just took the photo outside and under the shade with the automatic setting on my pocket camera (I'm no photography wizard ;p).

Maybe it was the editing, white background makes editing easier ;) I usually just brighten it up and try to balance the contrast and shadow in it. That's basically it. ;p

  9. Hi M, thanks for stopping by my blog. Mine is actually combination skin although not sensitive. I don't want to suggest this for sensitive skin because the scrubs can get a little bit abrasive though so you might want to try other variants. I hope this helps ;)
