IBB April 2013 Make Up Challenge

4:40:00 AM

If you're my Indonesian readers then have you checked out the latest Make Up Challenge from IBB (Indonesian Beauty Bloggers)? This month's theme is: "Bling it On!"
Create a look inspired by diamonds, sparkles, shines, anything that blings; and get a chance to win products from NYX for 2 winners!

So let's create something dazzling and gleaming with sparkles, shall we?

Let's shine, sparkle, and dazzle, baby!

Okay, this is how I interpret the "Bling it On!" theme:

As usual I started with some base steps first to prep my face before putting on makeup. For special occasions I usually would take extra steps as below:

Base Steps:
I prep my face with a moisturizer and then applied a serum followed with a primer. I used:
- Etude House Aloe Moistfull Skincare Kit
- Make Up Forever HD Elixir
- Make Up Forever HD Primer

My next step is applying the Extra Coverage such as concealers and foundation. I used (in alphabetical order):
- Too Faced Mineral Water Refreshing Eye Brightening Pencil
- MUA Hide & Conceal
- Givenchy Photo'Perfexion Light in #4 Light Beige
- NYX HD Concealer in Yellow (for under-eye concealer)
- Revlon Touch & Glow Face Powder as finishing powder

After the prep and coverage base, I look like this:

My face is still naked so now let's move on to Eye Makeup
First, I applied a brow pencil (I'm using my trusted Brow Define from Artistry).

I'm not using an eye primer because I'd rather use this NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk instead. Milk is a white color and it is great as an eyeshadow base because it will accentuate the colors of your eye shadow even more, making the colors really shows. It's also great for helping keep the eyeshadow stays on longer on my oily eyelid.

After putting on the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil above and blend it, I reached for my eyeshadow palette. For this "Bling it Out" theme I'm thinking "diamante" ;p

So I chose a shimmery eyeshadow palette from Maybelline. I used the Hyper Diamonds eyeshadow palette in #GY1, which has 5 shimmering colors in the shades of grey / black, perfect for a little bit of glamorized smokey-eye look.

I started with putting on a dark shimmery grey on the left side of the pan into my eyelid, and then I added several swipes of the lighter shimmery grey color (the one in the right side of the pan) into the crease, blending it upward and downward:

And then I swiped on the darkest color on the pan into the crease, with a wind-swept motion and then blending it in with the rest of the eyeshadows:

And last but not least, I added a few swipes of the palest grey color on the pan to the area above my crease and blend it upward. I also added a light dab of this color right in the middle of my eyelid:

One step is done!
But my eyes still looks naked without an eyeliner!

Look at the photo below,
it looks like my face lacks something, right?
There's nothing special on the eyes, looks very boring...zzzz...zzz..

And here is where the eyeliner comes in to save the day ;)
My current favorite eyeliner is the Curve from NYX. This eyeliner has a very unique packaging, unlike other common eyeliners. This one shaped like a pistol ;p

It has a "handle" that makes it easier to use, especially for flicking the end of your eyeliner to make a wing tip. Although it looks bulky but it's very light to hold and not heavy at all so it's very easy to maneuver.

I have been curious with this eyeliner ever since I've read about it on beauty blogs and forums. Now that I have tried and used it for several times, I can say that it is pretty great for a weirdly-shaped eyeliner ;p It has a felt tip and can create a thin or thick line easily. It also stays on my oily eyelid without smudging. I simply love this eyeliner.

A more detailed post on this eyeliner is coming up soon so if you're curious about this eyeliner then stay tune and subscribe to this blog or my twitter ^o^

Back to the makeup tutorial, below is how I look after I put on the eyeliners. Can you see the difference from the previous "no-eyeliner" photo up above? Now my eyes are a little bit popped-out and accentuates the whole face, ready to be the main attraction of this look ;p

Next, I applied a sheer gel Cheek Color from Stila.
This is a red-colored blush-on that applies very sheer on the cheeks. I think gel blush-on does not suit oily skin or oily-combination skin as it would quickly disappear on the skin, I think it is better suited for those with dry skin or combination-dry skin.

Now I'm half way there! We have come to the most fun part which is: playing around with the theme!

Since the theme is "Bling It Out" and I was thinking about "diamante look", so here I put on some bling-blings (diamond beads) near the outer corner of my eyes for accents.

Since my eyes are small so I put on a teeny tiny size of beads instead of large ones so it would not over-whelmed my eyes ;p

What do you think of the diamante look? LOL

Okay, eyes are done! And now let's put on some Lip Products
I used a moisturizing lip balm followed with a super sparkly lipgloss, and added another layer of gloss for extra shine:
- Maybelline Lip Smooth Color Bloom in Pink Blossom
- Honeycat Cosmetic Hiss Goodnight Pink Peppermint Lip Gloss
- NYX "The Blue" Lipgloss

 From top to bottom:
Maybelline Lip Smooth, Honeycat Cosmetic Lip Gloss, NYX "The Blue"

And now,
here is the final look!
Shimmery eyes, Glistening lips, Sparkling silver beads on my face!

Am I done?

Nope.

I still want to add something that would make this look more dazzling.

What is it?

Well, falsies of course!

^___^

Falsies can create dramatic effect in an instant. You can see above how it changed my eyes, right?

For this make up challenge I chose the ones with long luscious lashes to accentuate the glam sparkly look even more.

I love how this falsies accentuates the diamante beads.
Bling it on, baby!

I'm using falsies that I bought from Ebay, the brand is called "Taylor Xuan" and I got mine in #61 that comes in a set of three pairs, complete with a mini glue. After putting on the lashes I swiped a couple layers of Missha M Super Extreme Waterproof Mascara in black.

And now I'm finally finished with the look :)

I think my look is complete now. I have shimmery eyes, super sparkly bright lipstick, and three diamantes for extra shine and sparkles! LOL.

Do you like my finished look? It's a wonder how make up can really change a face, right? I look different in my  "before" and "after" photo.
