[2017] May - June EMPTIES

12:42:00 AM

Okay, so I have a round of backlog posts that I still need to upload including this one, so please stay and bear with me as you might see some older #lateposts coming' up going back up to 2 months ago. Yes, that's how late I am in posting backlog posts, but I still wanna post them so please forgive me if you keep seeing late posts here.

So anyway, Empties post usually took a very long time for me to create so I'm always late in making these empties posts. But since I already took pictures of it and because I also need this information for later on (for when I want to check whether or not I have purchased a certain item I usually look for it in my Empties post), so for the sake of my own personal notes and information, here is the very late post of May-June Empties :

As usual, I try to separate them into categories so they're easier to read. Hopefully this Empties posts could be useful to you as it is to myself, because there are so many products now in the market and sometimes we get a little bit overwhelmed with it. We're not sure which ones are good and which ones are duds. We even forget which products that we actually have tried before.

So that's why I do these Empties posts, so that I could remember which products I have tried before, and whether or not I liked it. That, and the satisfying feeling once you finished a product that's been sitting too long in your vanity 😀

So, without further ado, here we go with the first category :

B O D Y C A R E

The Body Shop Fijian Water Lotus Shower Gel
It smells so goooodd... I picked this one blindly from Sociolla website (by the way you can get Rp 50.000 Off by using my code SBNLAZOX at checkout - With min Rp 250,000 purchase and Not applicable for discounted items, and BLP + Rollover Reaction products). I blindly picked this scent over the others because I've read the description of the scent and thought that I'd like it. Well it turned out to be true! I like the scent so much, it reminds me of coconut scent mixed with soft tropical floras. It's a subtle sweet powdery scent yet so fresh and serene with a little hint of something breezy in it. If you like a subdued scent of coconut breeze mixed with tropical lush florals, then this is it :)
> Recommended & Will Repurchase
> Replacement : still trying to finish up my Juara Tiare Jasmine Tea Bath & Shower Gel

Moloka Farm Peppermint Choco Soap
This one is a natural goat milk soap made in local farm. I bought it from the Organic Store in Bandung. I always love using natural soap because it is basically better than the chemical-laden soaps that we found in supermarket. So whenever I found a natural soap I usually would purchase it. I also love goat milk soap because it makes your skin softer and this one also has a subtle scent so it wouldn't intercept your perfume. This soap is vegan and made of fresh goat milk mixed with peppermint oil and cocoa scent/oil. It was really nice and gentle on the skin while cleansing and refreshing your skin without the harsh ingredients. It also doesn't leave any residue on skin.
> Recommended & Will Repurchase
> Replacement : Saboon Pumpkin Pie Soap (another natural soap bar from local brand)

Cath Kidston Bluebell Shower Gel (travel size)
This is my travel shower gel. I bought this as a set with 2 other different scent variants (see here for Cath Kidston review post). I actually don't like any of the shower gels from the set, but this bluebell one is the better one amongst the other two. This bluebell variant smells a bit like a little girl's scents for me. It's powdery and "sweet like a little girl" type of scent. The shower gel formula is just so-so. The only thing I like is the cute vintage-y packaging, and that's it.
> Not Recommended & Will Not Repurchase
> Replacement : L'occitane Verbena Shower Gel (for my travel)

The Soap Corner 100% Castile Soap (trial size)
This is a liquid Castile soap from a local brand that I got as a bonus when I purchased the famous brush cleaner from The Soap Corner. They said it is one of their best seller product, and is perfect for those who have skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, rashes, etc. It is perfect for those with sensitive skin and can also be used as a face wash. I tried it as body wash and actually not really fond of it because it's not moisturizing enough for me. But I love using it as a face wash though! It's a nice formula for face wash and I can see how it would be really nice for those with sensitive skin.
> Will Not Repurchase because I think it is more suited for sensitive skin
> Replacement : Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

The Body Shop Olive Body Scrub
It is one of The Body Shop best seller products and I can definitely see why. It smells lovely (not too strong and not too distinctive either), it has coarse seeds mixed in with the soft texture of the scrub, and it comes in big tubs that lasts for a few months (well actually it depends on the frequency you use them). Anyway, I love the texture and formula of this scrub because it feels soft and gentle on the skin while the tiny little grits and granules in it makes you feel like you're really scrubbing your skin off. I love these kind of physical scrubs. I love exfoliating scrub that has some kind of coarser materials in it that makes you feel like you're really scrubbing those dead skin cells off your skin. I don't like soft lotion-y type of scrubs that makes you feel like you're not scrubbing at all. I want to scrub scrub and scrub, Lol.

> Replacement : Dr Soap Natural Coffee Scrub

Cath Kidston Bluebell Body Lotion (travel size)
This body lotion is the matching set for the shower gel that we discussed previously. The same as the shower gel I also didn't really like the body lotion except for the pretty packaging. The formula is just a standard white lotion which I don't think is moisturizing enough. It also goes bad quite fast if you don't use it too often. The scent is the same as the shower gel, although it's quite nice but it's really nothing special.
> Not Recommended & Will Not Repurchase
> Replacement : L'Occitane Verbena Body Lotion (as my travel size lotion)

Tony Moly Tangerine Whitening Hand Cream
This is a very very old product that I found on my working table, ha! I guess I have finished this quite a long time ago but failed to put it in my empty bin because I decided that it would look cute standing on my working desk as an accessory! So I just realized that I haven't put this in my empty bin yet so here it goes now (I would still use this cute little orange box as desk accessory later on). I purchased this hand cream because of the cute "Korean" packaging and although it smells like citrus/lemon but it smells a little bit "Fake / Chemical". But I remember that the formula was nice enough and it sinks properly into my skin without leaving any residue. You can read the full review here : Tony Moly Tangerine Hand Cream. But I don't think they sell this anymore at Tony Moly though ;)
> Replacement : Crabtree & Evelyn Wisteria Ultra Moisturizing Hand Therapy

Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner
I used to quit using hair conditioner because I found it makes my hair limp and volume-less. But nowadays I started using hair conditioner again after I found out that if I avoid the scalp and only use it on half the strands of my hair ending at the tip I would get the benefit of the conditioner instead of making my hair limp and flat. This is one of the conditioner that I like to use. It gives me volume and softer hair in an instant and it keeps my hair from getting flat for an extra 1-2 days. I also like the scent.

> Replacement : Furatasse Scalp Cleanser

Organic Care Scalp Care Anti Dandruff Shampoo
I bought this either at Watsons or Guardian or Century, and it was a blind buy. Meaning : I purchased the big bottle without knowing how it would do to my hair. Fortunately I got lucky and this is by far one of my most favorite shampoo to date! This worked perfectly with my hair. It gives volume, it doesn't make my hair limp and flat, and it cleans my scalp making it far from dandruff problem. My scalp remains fresh for 1-3 days and that's what makes my hair stays voluminous and feels light all day. Love it!

Stila Lovely Eye The Talking Palette
I had this for so long and I didn't really use it very much although it's still full. The reasons I didn't use it very much is because it has soft pastel colors that won't show on my lids. Maybe they're just too "pastel" for my tan skin so they can't show their true colors. Or maybe they're just not pigmented enough. I have tried using it with eyeshadow primers and also with white based eyeshadow (NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk / White) to make the colors pop, but still it won't work. So I had to give it up. I also would say that the quality of the shadows themselves are a bit weak and not very pigmented and that's why I always hesitate to purchase Stila eyeshadows even until now (though I know that their quality might already changed now). Anyway, this quad is still full but I can't use it anymore so this might go elsewhere.
> Replacement : Nothing. I still have many eyeshadow quads to use up

Revlon Photoready Two-Way Powder Foundation
This was an older product that I used until it's no more, Lol. Unlike the Stila eyeshadow quad above, I really really liked this Revlon Two-Way Foundation. Actually I love the Photoready line from Revlon. This particular product really gave coverage for my skin, is buildable, and the color shades are great for Asian women. The formula is also great and it lasts quite long on my skin as well as making my skin looks great under camera flashes ;)
> Recommended ( I actually recommend Revlon Photoready range)
> Replacement : Still using my Mac Studio Fix for my daily powder foundation

Stila Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer
This is another very very old product that I hanged on to (but I don't know why). This was my first tinted moisturizer and although I kinda like the concept of tinted moisturizer but I feel like this one was just so-so. Maybe me and Stila products just don't go along together, because every time I tried on Stila products they just didn't give me a good impression. This one for instance is like putting on nothing on your face, meaning it's more like a moisturizer than a tinted one. It is tinted but when you put it on your face it covers nothing, I mean nothing at all. So I don't know what this was because it's not moisturizing and it's not very tinted as well.
> Not Recommended
> Replacement : Currently not using tinted moisturizer

Skin79 Super BB Cream (trial size)
This one was also another very old product. I had this when Korean BB Creams was all over the beauty world back then. I bought a set of mini BB Creams in different variants from Skin79 and this one was the last one left which I forgot to use. So I just used this up recently and very disappointed with it because it sparkled! My face would sparkle like Edward Cullen on broad daylight, I hated it. Though the formula was great but the sparkle killed it.

> Replacement : Currently using up my April Skin Magic Snow Cushion

Sampar Glamour Shot Eyes (trial size)
This was one of my favorite item, my go-to product for when I don't have enough sleep or when I have huge under eye circles. This would correct it instantly and would also gives an illusion of a brighter under eyes area. Super love!
> Recommended
> Replacement : Currently still try to use up my Too Face Mineral Water Eye Brightening Pencil

Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer in Cherry
I love Burts Bees products! Mostly everything I tried from their brand were very nice, including this Burts Bees Lip Shimmer. It is basically a colored lip balm which moisturizes your lips while giving colors to it. And this one also has a glossy shimmer to it because it is a lip shimmer after all. This one has a very minty taste (which I like!) and the cherry taste and color looks lovely for a natural lip color too. Loved it!
> Recommended & Will Repurchase
> Replacement : Currently still using up my Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in #117 Creme
It took me so long to finish a lipstick so when I do finished one that means I really loved it. As with this lipstick, I loved it because it was my go-to lipstick for when I want to wear a nude shade on my lips. This shade was my go-to shade for nude lips, and I was kinda sad when I finished it (because it's hard to find nude shades that would go well with your lips).
> Recommended
> Replacement : Still using up The Balm Girls Lipstick in "Ima Goodkisser" (another pretty nude shade for tan skin)

Maybelline Baby Lips Color in Berry Crush
This one was old too and I have a love-hate relationship with it. It's a colored lip balm from Maybelline. Although I like how the shade was visible in my lips but I kinda hate the formula. Hands down the best formula for a lip balm is a natural one. I never satisfied with a chemically-made lip balm. So I prefer natural lip balms such as Burt Bees lip shimmer above compared to this one.

> Replacement : EOS Lip Balm in Honeysucle Honeydew

Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Mask
This face mask is great for those with oily or combination skin because it contains neem and turmeric which along with other ingredients in this mask helps to regulate excess oil secretion, cleans clogged pores and prevents the recurrence of pimples - which are all skin problems to those with oily and combination skin. This mask also contains Fuller's Earth (Multani Mitti) that helps cools and soothes the skin, and improving skin texture as well. It took a long time for me to finish this mask because this contains lots of product inside. But I love using it alternately with my other face masks, especially when my skin is more towards oily than dry, and when my skin is acting out by showing some breakouts.
> Recommended
> Replacement : Nature Leaves Pink Mask for Oily Skin (a natural face mask by local brand)

Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner
Face mist is one of my favorite products to use. I always love spritzing something on my face, and it's so practical too. One of my face mist that I love so much is this one by Sukin, an Australian skincare brand. This mist toner is alcohol free. It combines chamomile and rosewater to help soothes, toned, and cools tired skin. I will do a detailed review on this product and other Sukin products soon, but meanwhile I would like to address that this face mist is the best out of all the other Sukin items I purchased a while back.
> Recommended & Will Repurchase
> Replacement : Evian Facial Spray

Lavine Clarity Sunscreen SPF30++
A while back I tried on a range of skincare from Lavine, a skincare brand formulated in England but produced in Indonesia. You can read the detailed review here in Bahasa if you want : Lavine Cosmetics Review. But in English, this is overall a sunscreen with a light formula that sinks in to your skin and won't interfere with your makeup. One thing I don't like about this product is the packaging. It's a bit hard to pump the product out, and I hope they fixed their packaging by now.
> Recommended but have to warn you about the packaging
> Replacement : Still trying to use up my Vitacreme B12 Day Cream Sun Protection

Vitacreme B12 Vitablanc Lightening Beauty Cream
This is a moisturizer or face cream (however you wanna call it) packed with vitamins thats good for your skin. I used this for my morning moisturizer and although I really liked it but the packaging makes it hard to use it up. Mine end up broken and it's impossible for me to use it up because I can't get the product out anymore without ruining the tube into pieces, so even though this is still half full but I sadly have to throw this to the bin. Anyway I also already did a detailed review about this beauty cream so you can read all about it (and also about the Vitacreme B12 Day Cream Sun Protection here).
> Recommended
> Replacement : Sukin Supergreen Nutrient Rich Facial Moisturizer

DHC Eyelash Tonic
This was another old product and although this still has a little bit of product left inside it I don't think I could use it anymore because it's so old and it already started to smell funny too. So I guess I had to throw this to the bin. But overall, this was what I use to treat my eyelashes. I want to grow more lashes and thicken them as well as elongate them, and this product actually helps me to make my lashes healthier, thicker, and longer. I think this also helps with new growth of my bottom lashes which was where I need this most. So I think this product is quite good. You just have to use this religiously and be patient with the result.

> Replacement : Still trying to use up my Optilash Growth Intensive Eyelash Serum

Make Up For Ever Sens'Eyes Waterproof Sensitive Eye Cleanser (travel size)
This was my travel eye makeup remover. I mostly always spent my weekends at the parents so I always bring my travel products with me. This one is the one that I hate the most. Ugh, I'm sorry MUFE but this one is way off. First of all, this doesn't really clean your waterproof eyeliner and mascara unless you rigorously tugs and wipe your eyes (which I won't recommend because it will give you premature eye wrinkles). Secondly, this STINKS my eyes! There were many times that it stinks my eyes so bad. And thirdly, when you get to the lowest part of the tube it would be hard to squeeze the product out, so you won't be able to really finish it up which is a waste of product.
> Not Recommended & Will Not Repurchase
> Replacement : Still using my trusted Clinique take The Day Off Eye & Lips Makeup Remover

Sisley Photo Blanc Lightening Toning Lotion (travel size)
I've tried a couple of Sisley products before, mostly from their Photo Blanc line and I love them all, including this Lightening Toning Lotion which is basically a toner for your face. This was my travel toner and I liked it very much. It felt soothing on my skin and it instantly soften as well as plumped my skin afterwards.
> Recommended & Will Repurchase if only it's not too expensive
> Replacement : Juara Tamarind Tea Hydrating Toner (as my travel size toner)

My Beauty Diary Aloe Vera Mask
I have already written a detailed review of this sheet mask and you can read all about it here in this post : My Beauty Diary Aloe Vera Mask Review.

Himalaya Herbals Sparkling White Toothpaste
I rarely put on toothpaste in my empties post because usually to me they're just toothpaste, but I'd like to feature this one because it's different. I never liked a toothpaste like I love this toothpaste, Lol. This toothpaste is 100% vegetarian and free from paraben. It's an herbal toothpaste with miswak and plant enzyme technology of papaya and pineapple extract that helps whiten and clear blemishes on tooth surface as well as effectively cleans teeth and protects your gum. I don't know how to explain it but it's very gentle to use, and it has soft texture too without the chemical taste in it which usually makes me gag. It also makes your mouth feel fresh and clean right after every use. I would recommend this and would def repurchase this in the future.
> Recommended & Will Repurchase
> Replacement : Darlie All Shiny Multi Care Toothpaste

Yankee Candle Summer Scoop
The color of the candle is pink! And it smells sweet like ice cream. Like a berries ice cream. It smells so good on itself but when burned it wasn't giving a strong sillage, meaning the scent wasn't really strong when lit up. So I probably would purchase another variant instead of buying this again.
> Recommended for the scent but Will Not Repurchase because the sillage wasn't strong enough

-------------------------

Okay, that is it for my empties post. It was a lot of products because they were worth two months of empties that I accumulated. In total there were 19 full size products + 7 travel / trial size products + 1 sheet mask = I successfully finished 27 products, yayy! ->> ( Emptied 25 products + threw away 2 products ).

It's always satisfying to be able to finished a lot of products especially when that product has been sitting too long on the vanity. So being able to finished up 27 products in 2 months was a feat! FYI most of these products were already opened or half used, so all I have to do is just finish them up. But nonetheless it was still a satisfying feeling :)

Now as you see, this was my May-June Empties, so I still have my July Empties post coming' up. If you like this kind of posts then please subscribe if you haven't already. (If you have subscribed, thank you!). I will post the July Empties soon, I promised! (^_^).

Meanwhile, thanks for reading my blog !
