Review: Lash Genius from Anastasia Beverly Hills

12:27:00 AM

One of my favorites that I listed on my January Favorite Products post is the Anastasia Beauty Express for brows and Eyes Kit. That product is definitely my holy grail for brows.

Anastasia makes some of the best must-have products and this one that I'm gonna talk about today is another awesome breakthrough product from Anastasia Beverly Hills.

The Lash Genius ...

It is not a mascara but it's a waterproof topcoat for any mascara!

Another useful makeup tools from Anastasia, this Lash Genius can transform any of your mascara into a waterproof one! So if you have mascaras lying around in your drawer that you seldom use because it doesn't have waterproof feature, now it's the time to finally put them to good use. You can layer your usual mascara with a top coat of this Lash Genius, and within seconds you'll have a waterproof mascara that you can trust for those un-expected teary-eyed moments ;)

The mascara came within an exclusive black box (which is typical of Anastasia who always have the best exclusive-looking packaging of their products).

On the box it says :
"waterproof top coat."
"instantly waterproofs any mascara.

The mascara tube itself is also gorgeous, it came in a black, big, tall tube that looks very exclusive. It's very sturdy and handy too.
(ingredients)

The wand is pretty much the same as ordinary mascara, but it has white substance that actually would goes on clear on your lashes. If you worry that it will leave some white flakes on your lashes then afraid not, because this one really goes on clear (but you better wait for your mascara to dry completely before you put on Lash Genius on top of it).

It looks white but it actually color-less (goes on clear on eyelashes)

And according to the box, it said that we don't need much layers to put this into good use. All you need is only one or two coats over your mascara to waterproof and refresh.

I've tried it layered on top of my mascara and you can see below that it doesn't change the look of my mascara at all:

My Take:
You won't notice anything different on your eyelashes except that it's now waterproofed ;) It doesn't clump and doesn't harden or dry my eyelashes, so my base mascara stays the same. And it's hypo-allergenic too.

I tried splashing it with some water and the mascara still intacts, it also helps to make my mascara stays for a bit longer.

On the box it said to remove it with a waterproof eye makeup remover. I washed it off with my trusted facial cleanser that happened to be able to remove all my waterproof mascara and it does washed off easily (I use Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser). I love waterproof products that washed off easily so I don't have to keep poking my eyes just to get rid of the makeup ;)

Along with the mascara that I received I was also sent a booklet that shows how the Lash Genius is simply... genius! ;p

No smudge
perfect for teary-eyed moments ;p
Can I really swim with my mascara still intact?hmm, I should try that out..

Anastasia Lash Genius will be available on May 2012 at Sephora with a price of $21.

Yep, this is not widely available yet so I was very lucky to be able to try it before it hits the market. The Lash Genius Waterproof Topcoat is like an umbrella for your lashes, definitely a must-try if you have some non-waterproof mascaras at home that you want to wear to special occasions in which could involve "tears" or when the weather channel said that it's gonna rain ;) - a great tool for your makeup bag, you'll never know when you need it.

Though my short asian lashes are really hopeless and only waterproof mascaras can keep the curve/ add effect on them *sigh*
