12 Best Beauty Products of 2013

Happy New Year guys!
What did you do on your new years eve? I had a great time with hubby, starting with a dinner date at TGI Fridays (ribs please!), and then followed with coffee at Starbucks (too bad they were out of my favorite Peppermint Mocha latte so I ordered the Toffee Nut Latte instead). And then after contemplating for several minutes we decided to go home and enjoy the fireworks from our 15th floor balcony. It was so gorgeous! The sky were full of bright sparkly fireworks, it seems like a never-ending fireworks too! We are so blessed to have this magnificent view straight from our balcony. Our view were un-interrupted as there is no building in front of us, so we can clearly see all the fireworks that's going on in the neighborhood, and we can even see all the fireworks within a 7 km radius I think. It was just awesome!

Anyway, as promised, I will make a Best Products of the Year for 2013. This would be a list of products that I find most amazing during the year; or products that I simply couldn't leave without and would definitely repurchased and recommended to you. There are new products that I just recently found in 2013 that amazed me beyond beliefs, and there are also a couple of older products that I just started to use again during 2013 (late bloomers) that I found works really great for me and really worth their hype.

So without further ado, here's my 12 Best Products of The Year 2013 :

This list includes skincare and makeup products only, I might be doing another Best Product list for Bodycare products which is my favorite products to collect ;)

Actually there are a lot more favorite products of mine during the year 2013 but I tried to limit the list to only 12 products (to represent the 12 months in a year), because if I don't have a limit I might goes on and on talking about the many favorite things which made it to the list.

It was a little bit hard deciding on which items that should make it to the 12 best product list, so I try to choose wisely, and I only chose the ones that really stood out for me and made me swear by it since the first time I've tried it.

There are new type of products that I've been introduced with on 2013 such as the CC Creams, the Cleansing Oil, the Micellar Water, and also the new types of lipbalm spheres.

These are also products that I definitely recommend to you and that I will definitely repurchase in the future. I made this list based on my own experience with the products, and how the products really work for my skin.

FYI, I have combination skin and medium tan complexion. So these are the products that suits my skintone/skin condition. If you have the same condition like me then you might want to try these items too ;)

Below is the complete list of my 12 Best Products of 2013:

This is the first cleansing oil that I've tried and probably the best one in the market. Shu Uemura have a variety of cleansing oils that suits many types of skin, and this Whiteefficient one is meant to help reduce the production of melanin and brighten the skin's appearance. It's perfect for my combination skin or for oily skin too. The best of the best!

Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Eyes, Lashes & Lids
This is by far the most amazing eye makeup remover I've ever tried. This took off all my eye makeup even the heaviest ones, and this also wiped off waterproof mascara easily. Totally in love with this oil solvent. It does leave a little bit of oily residue but I usually follow with a face wash or face wipes to wipe it off. This is my second bottle and I simply couldn't leave without this.

The first CC Cream I tried and fell in love instantly. This CC Cream gives a luminous effect while setting my makeup in a natural looking way. I usually used this to replace a "primer" or base makeup so I layered again with another foundie or BB Cream. This helps brighten my face and also toned down some of the cakey foundation. It definitely started my love for CC Creams.

Bioderma just recently came to Indonesia on 2013 and ever since I was introduced to this micellar water solution I was immediately hooked and swore that I could not travel without it. I like anything practical and this micellar water is the most practical thing to wipe off all my makeup with just the help of cotton pads. This is seriously amazing product especially for those lazy days.

Revlon PhotoReady Color Correcting Primer
I was actually introduced to this primer back in 2012 but I just started using it regularly at the mid of 2013. I can't believe why I didn't use this product regularly back in 2012, because this is simply an amazing primer. This give a noticeable radiant effect to my face and it creates a smooth base for my makeup, resulting in a flawless look that stays on for many hours.

Make Over Ultra Cover Liquid Matte Foundation in #04 Amber Rose
This is a newly launched local brand which surprisingly have a great quality, especially this liquid foundation. I really love the light texture that gives medium to thick coverage. You can set how thick you want it to be by using it sparingly or using different brushes / sponges. The end result is a smooth flawless finish that pretty much conceal light blemishes, and it also stay put on the skin and didn't feel oily or heavy.

Korres Pomegranate Lip Butter
This is the latest finding of 2013 which I immediately fell in love with. I was having severe dry lips that even my trusted EOS lip balm couldn't heal it. I opened this up, used it twice, and my lips are way better than before! Totally amazing stuff when it comes to moisturizing super dry lips, and the pomegranate shade is also a pretty color that gives a subtle shade to my lips.

EOS Lip Balm in Summer Fruit
I finally get to try EOS lip balm on the early months of 2013 (because EOS lipbalms are not widely available here). I instantly fell head over heels with the unique shape, the colorful packaging with variety of flavors, and also the smooth buttery formula. The one taken in this photo is the Pomegranate but my favorite is the Summer Fruit one which I already finished. I find the summer fruit is more hydrating than the pomegranate one. My introduction to EOS lipbalm started my obsession to have a collection of them.

I adore this eyeshadow. It is a cream eyeshadow which glides on smoothly on the lids. You can use a brush or just simply use your finger. This bronze shade is perfect for everyday wear and very suitable to any skin tones. I've been wearing it daily because it's perfect for base or for those days that I'm lazy or don't have much time to do eye makeup. I just swipe it on my lids with my finger and I'm good to go. The creamy formula also doesn't accentuate the creases on my lids. If I could only have one eyeshadow it would be this!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Smitten
I always love crayon makeup because it's just practical plus the packaging looks super cute in my eyes. This is definitely one of my best lip product of 2013 because the sheer light color is also very buildable. This also has a long lasting formula which means the color will stay on your lips and not on your cup of tea or on your straws ;p Definitely a must-have for dates or for important meetings where it includes eating/drinking. My favorite shade is Smitten.

This is the famous eyelash enhancer from Talika, a very sought-after product because of its amazing potential in conditioning lashes and the ability to make lashes longer, thicker, and more curled-up. All I can say that all of them are true! It really does lengthens, curls, and also thickens my lashes in just a month of usage! This is actually my second tube (my first one was a sample tube) and I have to say that I am amazed with this product and I think this is a wonderful breakthrough.

NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in Yellow
My most favorite concealer for under eye everr!! The yellow color cancel the dark circles so it makes the whole area underneath my eyes seems brighter. This also conceals any crease and dark eyebags especially if I set it with face powder. This mineral-enriched concealer is also talc-free and paraben free. For more important events my sole option for undereye concealer is this one, and this one only. I probably couldn't leave without this.

Okay, that's my 12 Best Products of 2013 that are worth to buy (according to me). Did you agree with my options? I also would like to include a few honorable mentions because these are also my most favorite products that I think also deserves a highlight feature here:

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Brushes
I don't think this needs another justification, the Real Techniques brushes are raved all over the online beauty world. This Core Collection set is my first experience with RT brushes and my most favorite is definitely the Buffing Brush.

This is my first experience with body oil and I fell head over heels with it. This one from TBS can be use for hair, face, and body but I only used it as body oil. The secret of using this body oil is to apply it right after you walk out of the shower, when your body is still damp. Slather it on and you'll get the awesome result. I also really love the smell of this Strawberry one. My first body oil experience is a success indeed.

Freshkon Mosaic Lens in Charming Brown
I haven't had that many experience with contact lenses but one that really made the impact for me is the Freshkon Mosaic lens in Charming Brown. The brown color looks very natural and blends in with my original eye color. This lens really accentuate my eyes and makes my whole face looks more appealing. It's perfect for photos and look great in real life too. And although it's a bit drying compared to other lenses, but this is wearable for a long time and did not irritate my eyes even after 10 hours. It's definitely a repurchase for me ;)

  3. Hi Yuri, thanks for sharing!

I have to say that Real Techniques Brushes is the best! it is also one of my favorite for 2013. The fact that the price is so inexpensive and the quality is also there, make me really satisfied to use this brushes to the max, something that I wouldnt do if the brush is expensive, cos i dont want to damage it at all.

And I also love revlon Just Bitteen Kissable Balm stain! The one that i have is in color Sweetheart Valentine. I think now they have the matte one, and I guess it is worth to try because they said it is as good as this one :)

anyway, i really enjoy reading ur blog!
