Review: ETUDE HOUSE Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nail Polish

10:22:00 PM

Hello! Did you remember my review post about the Etude House Fresh Cherry Tints that I got from KoreaBuys a while ago? Well if you haven't read the review post yet, you can read the post HERE

Anyway, on that post I also mentioned that I also received the Etude House Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nails set from KoreaBuys, and now it's time to review them!

I have always been curios with the Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nails from Etude House because the packaging is super cute and the color variations are so lovely and pretty. I also love the idea of a gradation nails.

Well I don't use nail polish very often but I always love looking at pretty nails photos, so when these Juicy Cocktail set came to my mailbox I was excited to try them on.

Okay, first of all: the Cute packaging.
Their packaging box is so cute and colorful with a girly design on it. Each set comes with 3 bottles of nail polish. It also has an opening at the bottom front of the box so you can see the colors of each bottle closely. Although the outer packaging is super cute, but the bottles inside are just plain bottles with a long plastic cap.

These box sets are actually quite small and is even smaller than my palm (I have a small palm/hand). Inside every box there are three small bottles with 3 kinds of nail colors, all in the same hue. Each bottle is 4ml each, and each caps of the bottles are numbered 1, 2, 3 so that we know which ones to put on first.

Why are they numbered? Well, because it's a gradation nail theme so we need to put on the nail polish one by one, layering one color after another, and that's why we need to layer the colors correctly to achieve the gradation nails. Of course you can create your own gradation / layering style but if you want to achieve the same nail design like the one on the box, the numbers on each bottle makes things easier for that ;)
Now as you can see from the previous picture I received the Etude House Juicy Cocktail in:
#07 - Peach Crush
#08 - Lime Squash
#09 - Kahlua Milk

There is no english explanation at the back of the packaging so I can't give you much info about these pretty little things ;) But I do know how cute and pretty is this Juicy Cocktail set in real life! ^__^

Now second of all, the Shades.
All three shades are beautiful but my most favorite among the three shades that I received above is the Kahlua Milk (#09).

The Etude House Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nails in Kahlua Milk have a "brown" theme. It is actually an overall of gold brown-ish gradation. The three bottles inside the box consist of a creme, brown, and gold glitter sparkles.

On the packaging there's a picture of a milk-cream colored nails with a pretty brown gradation hues + gold sparkles on top of it. Such a pretty shade indeed. But on my nails it was more like a transparent/nude shade with brown-gold tip - which is also a very pretty shade indeed.

 Closer details:

From the above photo you can see the gradation nail polish shade that I have arranged according to their numbers, so from left to right are number 1, 2, and 3. So the left one (creme color) should be the first layer, and then the middle one is the second layer, and the third one is the last layer which we should only put on the tip of the nails.

Below is the photos of my nails when I tried these baby on. I put two layers of the creme shade but the color just didn't really show on my nails, but instead it looks so natural, like a better version of my actual nail color.

I put on the second layer only on 1/2 of the nail bed, and then followed with the gold sparkle near the tip of my nails.

The result is a natural shade with sparkles of gold which makes my hand looks more presentable, LOL. I really love the result and would wear this everyday if I could. All of these Juicy Cocktail sets also lasts quite long, it took me more than a week until I see the first chip ^o^

Next, is the Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nails in Peach Crush. Just as the name suggests, this one has a peach theme that supposedly would create a gradation of coral-pink shade. The three bottles inside consists of a creme-peach, coral, and a pink-ish hue.

This also create such a very pretty gradation shades in soft pastel color. The nail picture on the box is a perfect ombre shades in coral-pink hue, but this translates to my nails as a soft peach color. I think this color would be suitable for those with brighter/fair to really-fair skintone because usually pastel colors would look best on those skintone.

 More details:

The bottle number 2 and 3 (the middle and the right one at the photo above) actually have a subtly shimmery particles in it but no noticeable sparkles or glitters shown on nails.

Below is the photos of these nail polish set on my nails. I accidentally touch something before the nail polish really dries, so that's why you might see some rough surface on my nails below. The actual finishing is smooth and soft with a true color, meaning: the color you see in the bottle is what you'll really see on your nails.

This one is actually a bit different than the other two Juicy Cocktails sets. This Peach Crush one don't have a sparkle/glitter layer, all three bottles inside this set have matte colors. This one creates a solid gradation nail colors instead of sparkly gradation nail colors like the other two.

Last but not least, the Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nails in Lime Squash. From the name you would have guessed that this one has a "lime" theme which translates into a green theme. On the box it has a picture of a shiny sparkly green gradation nails. The three bottles inside consists of a yellowish-green, pale green with glitters, and green sparkles.

This one is actually also different from the other two Juicy Cocktail sets that I received. If the Peach Crush only have shimmery shades with no sparkle/glitter bottle, and the Kahlua Milk only have one sparkly bottle, then this Lime Squash set have two shiny colors: one with tiny soft glitters, and another one has sparkly particles in it.

So this has the most sparkly finish among the three Juicy Cocktail sets that I received. It's perfect for a special event or if you just love shiny sparkly thing like me ;p

 More details:

On my nails, the yellowish green turned into a dusty creme shade instead, but it's actually perfect for a base. The other two layers are quite awesome, the color payoff are amazing and the sparkles and shimmers really shows off on my nails.

I also put a couple of extra layers of the green sparkle on top, and the surface stays smooth without any bumps or grittiness, love it!

You can see what it looks like on my nails below, when I wore it at night my nails looks beautifully dramatic under the night light ;)

Overall, I love these Etude House Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nail sets. Each of the set actually have different gradation designs, and as I told you above I really love the fact that the sparkle/glitter part is not gritty and I couldn't even feel them on my nails. I love the smooth finish of these Juicy Cocktail set!

To sum it up, the best thing of this Juicy Cocktail Nail Gradation set are:
- Pretty colors options
- Cute Packaging
- Simple method of creating gradation nails with numbered bottles
- Smooth finishing with a smooth surface
- Lasts quite long

The only downside I could think of is: it took extra efforts to clean the sparkle/glitter part of the nail polish ;p But that's quite common for a glittery nail polish, and you just need a very good nail polish remover and some extra time to remove it.

If you want to buy these Etude House Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nail, you can buy them at KoreaBuys for IDR 84000 + Local Shipping Fee. Currently they have 6 colors/shades to choose from.

Have you tried any of the Etude House Juicy Cocktail sets yet? Which shade is your favorite or you want to try the most?
