MAYBELLINE Color Sensational Lipsticks

4:00:00 PM

A couple weeks before Eid day I received a beautiful package from Maybelline. It was a red striped makeup bag with four of the new Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks, yay!

I've heard about the newly launched Color Sensational lipstick collection from Maybelline before, with their 24 sensational shades to choose from. So I was very excited to try them out...

Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick is made from pure color pigments that produces intense colors and a higher level of durability. It is also infused with honey nectar to help giving moisture and keep lips looking healthy and stay moist.

The Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks comes in four Basic color series which are: Red, Pink, Plum, and Nude.

For those of you who love bold and bright colors, or if you love to follow the trend, you could pick your favorite shades from either the Luscious Red series or the Provocative Plum collection.

And for those of you who love the romantic, classic or natural look then the Romantic Pink and/or the Naturally Nude collection is more suitable for you.

Aside from the four Basic shade collection above, the Color Sensational series also presents Bold Matte collection which is basically matte lipsticks for you who want a long-lasting lipstick with bold colors that still feels comfortable on the lips.

This Bold Matte series are made from matte pigment with a long-lasting matte finish and bold sensational colors. It is also infused with mattifying milk that gives nourishment to the lips to keep it healthy and looking moist.

Out of the overall five collections above I got four different ones (three lipsticks from the Basic collection, and one lipstick from the Matte collection).

From the four Basic shade series I got each from the Red, Pink, and Nude collection. The only collection from the Basic series that I didn't get is the Plum ones. But I love all of the lipsticks that were sent to me because the colors are very wearable and I can definitely wear all of the shades :D

I am also lucky to be able to try lipsticks from both series: the Basic and Matte collection. I got one lipstick from the Matte collection which I also love. The only difference between lipsticks from the Basic collection and the Matte collection are the packaging and (of course) the finish. The Matte collection has a matte finish (doh), while the Basic collection has more of a satin and sheen finish.

The Matte lipstick also has a longer durability compared to the Basic collection lipsticks, but both collections has a non-drying formula which applies smoothly on the lips. Both lipsticks also didn't sink in to dry lines around my lips so I don't have to always apply a lip balm first before gliding on these lipsticks.

Now let's take a look at the actual shades of the lipsticks:
 From left to right:
Are You Red-dy from Red series
Mat 1 from Matte series
Pink Peony from Pink series
Totally Toffee from Nude series

I kinda love the packaging of these lipsticks. Each packaging has a color that corresponds to the lipstick's series/collection, whether it's Red, Pink, Plum, Nude, or Matte. (--> pls correct me if I'm wrong).

The colors on the lipsticks looks quite bold and pigmented, very sensational indeed ;) And when I swatched it on my hands the color pay-off really resemble what we see on the lipstick itself. Let's see the swatch photo below so you can see what I mean:

From left to right:
Are You Red-dy, Mat 1, Pink Peony, Totally Toffee

Are You Red-dy is a dark red shade which I think would suits most skin tone, Mat 1 is a matte bright pink while Pink Peony is a brown-ish sheer pink. Totally Toffee is a neutral nude shade which doesn't goes too pale so it still shows on the lips (love this one!).

Now let's see how it look on my lips (see photos below). My actual lip color is slightly dark (pigmented) and all of these swatches below are just 1 - 2 layers max so you can see the real color pay-off. I found that the least pigmented one is the Pink Peony shade from the Pink Basic collection because it goes on quite sheer compared to the others, while the most pigmented is of course Are You Red-dy from the Red Basic collection which I only need to apply one layer of it to show the color.

 Totally Toffee

 Mat 1

 Pink Peony

 Are You Red-dy

Just as it's name suggests, these lipstick do have sensational colors. The color pay-off are wonderful as the color already shows on the very first application, that means I don't have to layer my lipstick over and over again until the color finally showed up ;)

Durability-wise, the Mat 1 from the Matte collection is the one with the most staying power. Basically all the other three lipsticks from the Basic collection also have medium staying power even the Nude one, and as you can see above, the three lipsticks from the Basic collection has a slight sheen to it which makes the lips looks healthy and appealing.

After trying each of them my most favorite is Are You Red-dy (because of the bold-but-very-beautiful red color), and come in close at second place is the Mat 1 from the Matte collection because I really appreciate the fact that it didn't dry on my lips as most matte lipsticks do. Overall, I really love the Color Sensational lipsticks and there's nothing that I don't like from the formula and overall packaging.

Thanks again for Maybelline Indonesia who has kindly introduced me to the Color Sensational lipsticks. I can not wait to try other colors from both collections.

I would also like to recommend these lipsticks to you guys. If you love matte lipstick but you hate the drying effect it has on your lips, then try the Matte series from Maybellline Color Sensational that have a non-drying formula. If you love bold and bright colors that would look sensational on your lips then you should try one of the Basic series from this Maybelline Color Sensational collections :D

Now have you tried any of the lipsticks from the Color Sensational series yet?
