[Skincare] : THE BODY SHOP Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash & Mattifying Day Cream

1:26:00 AM

If you have combination / oily skin and you love The Body Shop then there's a big chance that you might already try the Seaweed range from TBS.

"Seaweed" is the skincare range from The Body Shop created for oily-combination skin. Referring to the photo below, I know that these are the old packaging and TBS now have a newer packaging version of their Seaweed range with a different design but still in the similar shade of blue. I also think that the formula of the old packaging and the newer ones are not too vastly different, so I thought I'm gonna post the review anyway. Hopefully this short review would help you if you're looking to try the Seaweed range from The Body Shop.

I have combination-oily skin and I found that the Tea Tree range from The Body Shop (which were also meant for oily skin) are a bit too rich for me. I think the Tea Tree range is more towards those who have oily and acne prone skin. So if you have oily skin with occasional break-outs or if you have combi-oily skin like me, then you might want to try your hands on TBS Seaweed range instead.

The Seaweed range is designed for combination skin. They contain mineral-rich seaweeds that helps to restore balance and control excess oil to achieve a shine-free, matte finish. The Seaweed range is also great for improving impurities and it is targeted to work on problem areas of combi/oily skin. It is also oil-balancing and mattifying at the same time. Yes, the problem of oily skin is "shiny face", so anything with the word "mattifying" is enough to get us interested (^_^).

I actually finished using both these products a little while ago, and here is what I gotta say about the products ...

Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash
It is light enough for everyday face wash but I personally prefer to use it in the morning right when I get up from bed because that's when my skin is most oily. And this face wash would wipe those oil and dirt residue off in an instant! This face wash also goes a long way because I remember that I can't seem to finish it off more quickly despite using it everyday. I think there's a lot of products inside and you only needs a small amount for every use, so it would really save you money on the long run. I actually finished the Day Cream first before I finish the face wash which is highly unusual because usually I would go through face-wash products more quickly than any other skincare products. To sum it up, this is basically a nice face wash for everyday use, or maybe for gym wash too when your face gets really sweaty and oily, because this gets rid of oil fast and clean :)

Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream
This is an everyday moisturizer with light formula with a mattifying effect. The light consistency makes it perfect for combi-oily skin because it got absorbed quickly by our skin and it doesn't leave any greasy residue on the skin surface. It doesn't sit on the surface so it won't interfere with our makeup. This Seaweed mattifying day cream moisturizes dry areas on our skin while controlling excess sebum and shine on the oily parts of our face. I found that the mattifying effect works on some degrees although I still have to use powder to keep my face from that dreaded oily shine especially on hot humid days. But overall it is a good moisturizer for morning use. Please don't forget to add a separate sunscreen for extra protection :)

How about you? Have you tried the Seaweed range from The Body Shop?
And did you like it?
