From My Stash : Fave Lipsticks For Dry Lips5:17:00 PM
My lips is mostly dry these days, although I used an amount of lipbalms regularly it doesn't seem to matter much. Maybe it's because the heat wave that we're currently experiencing here, it seems that my body is dehydrating because of the heat, thus my lips turned dry because of the dehydration. And you know what happens when we use lipstick over a dry lips, right? The lipstick would not stay in place and some lipsticks would just accentuate the dry flaky bits on dry lips. It's just yucky all over :(
So my solution to that problem (aside wearing lots of lip balms regularly and drink more water to hydrate) is to wear moisturizing lipsticks and/or add some gloss over your lipstick to hide the dry flaky bits. With that in mind I rotate my lippies and pull some moisturizing ones as well as some lip gloss from my stash. Here are my current lipstick picks :
From left to right :
Maybelline Fruity Jelly Lip Gloss in Berry Bella
Love this lip gloss, it gives healthy shine to my lips and I can wear this lip gloss with or without lipstick. It's still have a little bit sticky feeling though, but not that much to irritate me.
Clinique Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in Apricot
My favorite lip gloss, this is perfect to layer with soft hued lipsticks to add fullness as well as hiding away dry flaky bits on the lips. It's not sticky and it keeps my lips feel moisturized.
Missha Crystal Shine Rouge in RD002
This lipstick is very moisturizing and hydrating, it's one of my go to lipstick when my lips are dry. The shade is a sheer red, you need to reapply it over and over if you want the red shade to show, but I only wear it in 2-3 layers for that soft natural red lippie look. (Reviewed Here)
Caring Colors Moisturize Rich Lip Color in Brown Sugar
This is an old one but I refused to throw it away (lol) because I don't have many moisturizing lipsticks and this is one of the very hydrating lipstick that I owned. The shade is a reddish brown and it's more like a balm+lipstick in one packaging.
Elizabeth Helen Perfumed Lipstick in #15
This smells like olives and I think they also use olive in the formula because it really hydrate my lips and feels more like a lip balm instead of lipstick. The shade is sheer pink and I used this for "every day wear" for those days that I only need a hint of color on my lips just to go to the laundry / mini mart / downstairs lobby, etc.
NYX Butter Lipstick in Mary Janes
All the lipsticks I listed above are very typical of "moisturizing lipstick" which usually has weak color (i.e : the color won't show that much on the lips), so you have to put many layers on your lips for the color to show up. For "real" lipstick that has strong color but still feel moisturizing I will go to this NYX butter lipstick instead. The shade is deep red and the color really shows up with just 1 layer. I usually wore this lippie to go on a day out to complete my makeup.
NYX Retractable Lip Liner in Red
The above NYX butter lipstick would look nicer if I wear it with this lip liner, so that's why I put this liner on this list too. Every time I wore the NYX Mary Janes Butter Lipstick above I would always put this lip liner first. This lip liner can also be worn on it's own, it creates beautiful red shade that's not drying on the lips.
I know some of the lipsticks mentioned here are probably not available anymore such as the Caring Colors and the Clinique ones, but these are the real lippie products that I'm using right now. The Elizabeth Helen lipstick is a gift from Saudi Arabia. I recommend getting it if you go to Makkah for Haj pilgrimage. This olive lipstick really hydrates the lips while you're wearing it :)
So what are your picks for dry lips? Lemme know!
