Review: Kanebo LUNASOL Modelling Glossy Eyes in Icy Glow

2:12:00 AM

It's been a long time since I review an eyeshadow so today I would like to review an eyeshadow palette from Kanebo Lunasol.

For those of you who lives in Europe or USA, Kanebo Cosmetics is a leading Japanese cosmetic brand. Today, it is the second largest cosmetics company in Japan. Kanebo is renowned for their high quality products based on advanced skin science.

Kanebo has several line of products, one of them being the LUNASOL
Lunasol offers a refined, high-quality selection of makeup and skincare items with fashionable color collections, innovative products, and pleasant textures.

LUNASOL is also popular for its multi-color eye shadow palettes in different gradations. Here's one of them:

Kanebo Lunasol has many options of eye colors, lips and face products. They also have a basic care/ skincare range. The color options are pretty much wonderful considering they have several eye shadow palettes with such gorgeous colors in it. You can find colors from soft beige and browns to more bright hues such as vibrant roses, blues, and khakis which is a flattering shade especially to Asian eyes.

This particular palette is: the MODELING GLOSSY EYES.
A four-color eye shadow palette that includes the exceedingly pure luster of crystals and translucent autumn colors. The newly-formulated Glossy Base contains a bounty of beauty essence ingredients that provide moisture to the eyelids while adding a dewy, smooth luster.

I got mine in the color 01 ICY GLOW.
It's more like an overall subdued hue which is pretty much neutrals and perfect for daily use. We're gonna talk about the colors later on because now I want to talk about the packaging.

I love eye shadows in a palette. If you can see my eye shadow stash right now, a big percentage of them are palettes. I love using palettes instead of the single eyeshadow because there are more colors to choose from (obviously), and it's more travel-friendly. I mean, bringing a palette is so much easier than bringing several of your single eyeshadows which would obviously took more space in your bag. With palettes you'll have a few different coordinating colors in just one simple packaging. So that's a big plus for me since I love anything practical ;)

So, back to this Lunasol Modelling Glossy Eyes, it has a sleek palette with a reflective packaging which I think looks exclusive. I think you can say that the color is "bronze", with a simple design at the front. And like I said, it is very reflective almost like a mirror. Well you probably can't quite see it from these photos but in real life they are very reflective.

The packaging is quite sturdy with a large mirror inside it which I love! It comes with 4 eye colors (with one base color included), and it also comes with 2 kinds of brushes to apply the colors.

Regarding the colors, when I first opened the palette the colors were beautiful. It has shimmers which gleaming prettily underneath the light. This Modelling Glossy Eyes palette actually has two basic eyeshadow colors, one highlighter color, and one glossy base color.

The colors are: pink shade (highlighter), white creme (base), brown (neutral), and black (neutral). The highlighter color is the one on the top left, while the eyeshadow base is the one on the right top corner.

Here's the colors on the Icy Glow palette:
If my photo above can't show the colors properly, here's a photo I took from their website:

At the top left corner is the highlighter which is shimmery pink colors with two different textures, one being shimmery and the other half is more subdued. You're supposed to blend these two colors with your brush to achieve a gorgeous highlighting effect, or you could just use either one of them if you want.

The white color on the right top corner is the eyeshadow base which is different than the others because it has a balmy texture. The black color on the right bottom corner has two different colors, one being a darker color than the other. All the colors in the palette are towards shimmery glossy colors, hence the name of the palette: Modelling GLOSSY Eyes.

The color pigmentation is medium but since it has shimmers so I prefer it that way (medium pigmentation), otherwise it would make my eyes look like a disco ball. Here I tried to swatch the colors for you but I'm sorry if the colors didn't really show on my camera:

The colors from top row:
(left: pink highlighters. Right: whitebase)
And the colors from bottom row:
(you can click any photo to enlarge)

It does have a tendency to be a little chalky but it's not a problem for me because they still delivers. You can see from the above photos that once applied the colors doesn't really shimmers that much (which I like, because that means I can use this for a day look without looking ultra shimmery).

I really like the colors as it is a very wearable everyday colors. As I told you, although it's very shimmery and has a glossy feel on the palette but when applied on the eyelid it doesn't really sparkle or shimmers that much. I can say that it's more towards "glossy" than "shimmery" when worn, so when you wear it during the day you won't have that super sparkly look like a disco ball just dropped on top of your face ;p Instead, it would accentuate your eyes by adding some kind of a polished glossy effect on your eyelid. It makes a great neutral everyday look.

What I mean is, even though the colors look very shimmery on the palette but this is not those type of eyeshadows that you can only wear at night because they are too shimmery and sparkly. You can easily wear this during the day because for me it give such a nice sheen and enough shimmers to make eyes pop without being too much. The shimmer effect is just right and not overdone at all.

Day look:
Just like their website said, this Lunasol eyeshadows has a nuanced effect. This eye shadow creates some kind of three-dimensional colors and a clear depth on the eyes as the colors are layered on. The clear colors and succulent textures makes it easy to apply and easy to layer too.

See you on my next review ;)
