[Make-Up] : SWEETEN ME Silicon Sponge

Have you tried a Silicon Sponge yet?
The latest innovation in the beauty world is a Silicon Sponge. It functions the same as the regular beauty sponge / makeup sponge, but this one is made from a silicon instead of a regular sponge. Curious yet?

Well, at first it was a bit weird using a silicon to spread makeup on your face. It sure does need a little bit of practice and some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it then it will be as easy as using a regular sponge.

The main difference from using this silicon sponge vs the regular makeup sponge is that the silicon ones do not absorb product, so you will only need a tiny bit of product to use for every application. Just see my picture on the bottom of this post, that is how much foundation I need for every application, sometimes even less that that! Trust me, you will only need a tiny drop or two of your foundation with the silisponge. Compare that to the regular makeup sponge which needs a few pumps of foundation for every use.

So the basic difference is how much you would save your money by using the silisponge. First of all, the price of a silicon sponge is way less cheaper than the regular makeup sponge. Secondly, you will need way less product when using silisponge, so that means more product saving! Your foundation would lasts longer and you won't have to buy it often.

There are two ways of using the silisponge with a liquid product (foundation / bb cream / etc) :
  1. You pour the foundation directly on to the silisponge (just a teeny tiny drop of it) and then spread it on to your face using the silisponge by slightly pressing it onto the skin and do a combination of spread/patting motion.
  2. You dotted a thin amount of foundation on your face in several areas and then spread it evenly with the help of the silisponge.

Whichever way you prefer just make sure you use tiny bit of products (foundation, etc). If you get too much product on your silisponge then your skin won't absorb it all so it would end in cakey disaster or an uneven layer of foundation on your face.

So it does take some time to really know the exact amount that you need to pour onto the silisponge (because every face and skin is different so you will have to try it yourself). For oily skin or combination-oily skin like mine I suggest you pour even less amount of product on your siliponge than the picture above, or what I prefer to do is put on tiny dots of foundation first on to the skin and then spread it evenly with the silisponge (way number 2).

The Silisponge is smaller and thinner in size compared to the regular well-known brand of makeup sponge, so it is much more easier to carry and put in your makeup bag. It won't take any extra storage because it's so thin and small.

Another benefit of using silisponge is how easy it is to clean!
You know how you hate it when your makeup sponge gets dirty easily even only after two uses? If you're like me and too lazy to clean your makeup sponge then this might be a steal for you. Silisponge is so easy to wipe because they don't absorb product so if they get dirty you just wipe it off with a tissue (wet tissue would be even better) and then you're ready to use it again. So you don't have to go to the sink to wash/clean your makeup sponge anymore, you only need tissues!

Overall, I think it could be the choice for those who wanted to try another tools to put on their makeup. The affordable price makes it worthy to try out, and it's a fun tool to use. I personally think that those who have dry skin would benefit from this silisponge more than us with oily skin. But of course oily skin can still use this silisponge. I have combi-oily skin and I still use this silisponge on a daily basis. I love using it with my lighter base makeup such as my bb cream or a very light foundation. I found it's a little bit hard to use if I use it with my heavier foundation. I also love using it to spread my bronzer and/or blusher. I think you can always find some useful ways to use this silisponge :)

PS: I got my silisponge from Sweeten Me (you can check out their store in Instagram)
They are the "tear drop" silicon sponge, and they have two colors options (blue and clear). The price of these Sweeten Me Silicon Sponge is Rp 55.000 each. Lemme know if you try it too :)
