2015 - A Year In Review

7:13:00 PM

I know it's super late but : Happy New Year 2016 !!

So every start of the year I usually make a "Year in Review" post as a personal note for myself. I love reading it once in a while to see what I was up to during the year and what were the highlight moments of that year. I also love reading it to see how we have lived our years, so my future self can have something to reflect upon, and also to remind myself to always be thankful for the many things that we have achieved so far.

Actually there were nothing special going on in January. Days went by as usual and nothing really happened during this first month of the year.

This month we went to Bandung and visited the Geology Museum (something I've always wanted to do since I'm in college), The Peak Cafe (an oldie but goodie), and also visited Dusun Bambu which was one of the hottest spot in Bandung at that time.

This month I bought a new camera which is a (semi dslr) mirrorless camera. I still keep my old compact camera but it was one of my goals to get a new camera that has smaller body compared to dslr but has all the manual settings that a dslr camera has. So my choice went to the Sony Alpha camera with built-in rotate display view for good selfies (;p) and wifi/bluetooth option for easy transfers of photos from my camera to my phone so I can upload it straight away for social media (blogger must-have!).

Near the end of this month I finally upgraded my mobile phone. I haven't upgraded my old phone for more than 2 years until it finally refused to function properly. I upgraded it to an iPhone 6 and it has been wonderful ever since :)

After upgrading my mobile phone I needed a new phone case to go with it. I've been using cheaper cases before and it breaks easily because I'm the type of person who always bump and drop their phone, so I thought it's time to upgrade to a much nicer and stronger phone case. So I went with a Kate Spade rubber case in white polkadot pattern which i love so much. It's sturdy and made of strong rubber. As predicted, I dropped my phone at the very first day I wore the Kate Spade case! It hit the asphalt but I'm glad the phone is still okay. Luckily I had worn the Kate Spade case that day, and that experience made me realized that designer cases are expensive but they are worth it.

This May we went to Anyer beach for a vacation with my uncle's family and stayed at the Jayakarta Hotel. We always stayed at that hotel whenever we went to Anyer because that's the only hotel that we think suits our big family's needs. It was also my husband's birthday so I treated him his first Parasailing experience! I had mine when I was in college and that was one of the best experience I had (aside from white water rafting). So I've been urging him to try parasailing and water rafting too.

This month I saw some of Michael Kors phone cases were on huge discount. I bought two of them (a leopard-print and a Signature bronze MK logo). The MK case is not as bulky as the Kate Spade one because it's not made of rubber like the KS one. But I like the MK cases because it looks very elegant and would be perfect for events or night looks.
This month is also the month of my brother's wedding ! It was held at Arion Swis-bell Hotel Kemang and I had written a review about the hotel here.

We always wanted to invite orphan children to eat and pray together with us as part of our ikhtiar (TTC program), and Alhamdulillah we can finally realize it this month. It felt so good to be able to share our food and blessings with them so we aimed to do it more frequently from now on (Amien).
Lebaran or Ied Al Fitr came this month and as usual we spent it in Jakarta and Bandung. While at Bandung we stayed at the Savoy Homann Hotel which I also already reviewed here.
At the end of this month I also surprisingly found a vintage Fendi bag in very good condition and at a very good price, so I snapped it right away before someone else does ;)

Hubby was promoted to Specialist this month so it is an awesome news to us! My nephew was also born near the end of August so I have another Leo in the family :) This month is also very special to me because August is my birthday month and this month I get to add some things to my growing designer collection. For my birthday gift this year I bought myself a Michael Kors Hamilton Zip Wallet in the exact same shade as my Michael Kors Jetset Tote (luggage shade). I always gifted myself a birthday gift every year if I had the budget (^o^).
From hubby I received the most special gift ever (!) because he agreed to buy me my very first LV ! It's only their Mini Pochette Accessoires or the "mini pouch" because I wanted to start small and I'm not ready to spent much money for the bigger bags yet, lol. But I'm still very happy beyond belief that I finally own an LV item (thankyou hubby!). My dream bag from LV would be the Neverfull Tote bag in Damier Ebene, and I would work hard in saving my money towards that purchase :)

I also received some money from older family members for my birthday gift. I collected the money and added my own money to buy a Coach Scarf - which would be the start of my designer scarves collection. Last but not least, August is also our Anniversary month so I got myself another gift from le hubby which is a Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac bag in purple. Reebonz always have a sale of this bag (and many other RM bags) going on in their website. You just have to check often ;)

Iedul Adha falls on this month and we spent it in Jakarta with our family from both sides. This month I also noticed that my Polyvore account was followed by BCBGMaxAzria (fan-girl moment!). Also, there was a designer bazaar going on at Plaza Indonesia from Style It Forward - Club 21, and I managed to score a DKNYJeans wool sweater for a really really cheap price!

It's time to finally upgrade my planner! My dream planner would be the Happy Planner from Me and My Big Ideas, but it was so expensive for a planner I keep holding back to buy it. But after a deep contemplation and calculation I finally took the plunge and bought the 18 months Happy Planner. Considering that I can use this planner until the end of next year would make the cost-per-wear actually cheaper than I thought.
This month I was chosen as Star Clozetter for Clozette Indonesia. I also participated in Benefit x Luxola project which is kind of a big deal for me because I love both brands. I also finally cut/trim my hair at the hair salon after two years of not cutting my hair in the salon (^o^).

I had another scarf acquisition this month. I found a vintage Ralph Lauren scarf with a really bright beautiful colors and pretty floral pattern at a vintage shop. The seller gave me an extra bonus of a free floral twilly scarf from Laura Ashley UK, so it's a lovely little purchase overall :)
This is also the month where we received a miracle. On 20th November 2015 - at around midnight we discovered that I was pregnant. It was the very first time I experienced seeing two stripes on my home pregnancy test!! I couldn't believe my eyes.. I have never gotten a positive result before, and that night I finally got the two stripes after 7 years of trying to conceive! I was so happy I could cry.. (^___^)
Also, at the end of this month we went to Puncak and stayed in a rented villa with my big family.

Sadly, my pregnancy only lasted 7 weeks. At 7 weeks we discovered from the doctor that our fetus had stopped growing at Week 6. I was having a miscarriage :(  It was a very sad news to us but we tried to always be positive and would keep on trying again. Please pray for us..
Anyway, the long awaited Starwars movie came out this month and we spent New Years eve at the comfort of our balcony, watching the live fireworks from the city. We didn't go out anywhere because I was still in recovery mode after the miscarriage.

In summary :

Top 3 Biggest Personal Highlights :
1. Upgrading my Phone & Camera
2. Sharing Fortune with the Orphans
3. I got pregnant!

We are thankful and feeling blessed for 2015 as we have many achievements and a miracle happened to us during the year. We also hope that next year would be even more better and we would be pregnant again. Lastly, there are some commitments that we already planned for next years, hopefully we can be better in a lot of things and aspects.

So thank you a lot 2015 for being very wonderful, and hopefully 2016 and the years ahead would be even more wonderful. Amien ...
