ROXY New Batik collection and National Batik day

Hello, today is National Batik day here in Indonesia. So as I tweeted yesterday, I'm wearing Batik today to commemorate the National Batik day! Lucky for me, I received a couple of samples from ROXY the other day. And it was both in Batik print! Yes people, ROXY is doing batik now, I am so happy to hear that. I feel so proud of my country's heritage that an international brand such as ROXY is doing a Batik collection based on Indonesian traditional batik prints. I've read in Fashionese Daily that Simon McGreggor, Marketing Executive of Quicksilver South East Asia said that this is the first time for Roxy to launch a collection based on Batik, and will continuously designed new collection using Batik. Yeay!

Do you know that Batik is originally from Indonesia? Batik is our heritage and we proudly wears it :D So anyway, speaking about ROXY, they are launching their new Batik collection and will be available throughout South East Asia. This new Batik collection were inspired from traditional Batik motif/pattern such as Mega Mendung (Rain Clouds), Parang (Daggers) and Kawung.

ROXY sent me two items from their collection. In above photo you can see the Mega Mendung print on the left, and the Kawung print on the right. The collection consists of several kinds of clothing such as T-shirts, Polo Shirts, Shirts and Jackets for men, also Fashion Tees, Skirts and Dresses for women as well as various accessories such as sandals, etc. All of the products are available for children and adults.

What I like about this collection is they also attached a story behind the Batik print in every item. So you can read about "Mega Mendung" and a history fact about "Kawung" or "Parang" when you bought the items.

So today I decided to wear the Mega Mendung for the National Batik day. Here's what it said about "Mega Mendung" in the attached card:

"The Mega Mendung (rain cloud) motif is a dominant theme in Cirebon Batik. The graduated colors of the clouds against a string background show Chinese influence. The clouds originated from design on bronze vessels during the Chou Dynasty in China in the 7th century BC.

According to Chinese mythology, the Nymph Goddess of Love revealed her presence through rain clouds during the day and through rain mists during the night. The Goddess of Love is therefore implied in the batik with the mega mendung pattern"

Back to the National Batik day, I'm happy to see some other people also wearing Batik today, they must be commemorating National Batik day just like me :) But I'm pretty much sure my Roxy "Batik Mega Mendung" asymmetrical tank is one of those that stands up among others ^o^ I am so loving both of the clothes they sent me, and in this post I just want to show how much I love this tank top.

I like the Mega Mendung print (me and hubby have long been admiring the mega mendung print for some reason). Other reason why I love the top is because of the comfy fabric and the asymmetrical cut on the lower side part. I love the color combination too. Overall, I love everything about it. It's so versatile too, I can wear it with almost anything. The half-colored design in the back is such a bold touch to the top. I got many people commenting and asking about the top all day :)

You can get these Batik collection in a variety of Quiksilver vertical stores, surf stores such as Planet Surf and Point Break, and in their flag stores in leading department stores in Indonesia (PIM1 Jakarta, PVJ Bandung, Tunjungan Plaza 4 Surabaya). And like I mentioned earlier, this collection will be available in various countries in Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

just another daily blab..

After all the tragedy and drama that happened to my life lately I surely needed a good laugh. A couple of weeks ago me and the big family has been busy in and out of the hospital taking care of my aunt who was in and out of a coma after a big surgery. After more than 10 days at the hospital she passed away :( I was crushed because she was like my second mother, we're kinda closed-tied from since I was a child. Since she only have sons so she treated me like I'm the daughter she never had. She used to make me tiny little dresses and clothes for my Barbie. It's just so sad to see her leave, but at least she's not hurting anymore. Aside from that, I also had my own thing that made me feel kinda low every other time.

But hey, life must go on, and let's keep on blogging. All we need is just a little humor. Me and hubby needs a little funny jokes to make life a little bit easier. Writing something in this blog makes me happy and warm inside, this is what I like best about my job. Doing something that I really love makes me happy. Watching something funny on youtube also makes me happy. There are some funny and hilarious videos on youtube that could be very entertaining :)

Hubby also found a new video website called Break.com, it's online entertainment for guys (no, NOT that kind of 'entertainment for guys only' type of thing). Women can enjoy break.com too, the difference is all the videos in the website are more towards men's interest, like movie trailers, sports, fights, pranks, etc.. you know, guys stuff ^o^

I don't really know why men are into pranks and other silly stuff, or why they love silly cartoon character on their tshirts, funny t-shirts seems to attract men like cute shoes to a woman. I guess those guys like funny stuff since they were young. I remember how my brother loves to attach funny posters in his bedroom wall when he was a young adult.

I guess wearing funny tshirts can help make your day brighter, at least it can make you smile while you look in the mirror before you get out of the house, and you get to make other people smile too when they see your tshirts. I have a couple of funny tees myself, and hubby have lots of 'em! ;)

Anyway, sorry if I bore you. I just need to show you these funny (*maybe a little sarcastic ;p) quotes that has successfully made me smile with a big grin today. It's a wonder how sometimes simple things can make us happy ^__^

DIY - How to reconstruct your old tshirt

Do you know Adam Saaks? He is well known as a designer at Ed Hardy but he's actually a t-shirt ripper or t-shirt cutter, even some people called him a t-shirt circumsizer -lol. He is famous for his signature style of ripping Ed Hardy tshirts into a whole new top! I personally would consider it an art rather than a tshirt because it's just fabulous, fantastic and awe-inspiring. I mean we should collect these tshirts he made, we don't buy it, we collect it ^o^

I know most of you probably didn't know about who Adam Saaks is. I knew about him just days ago, from youtube ;p Adam Saaks is famous for turning a simple Ed Hardy tshirts into another form of cool sexy tshirt just by using a scissor! And usually in less than 10 minutes! Here's what I did last Thursday:

And here's what I came up with:

Ha! I know it's a bit rough and far from the tutorial video but it's not bad for me whose known for always having a really low scores on DIY-ing. I'm always bad when it comes to DIY, I'm a sloppy crafter and I don't have the patient to work on much details. So based on my experience, I started this project by using an ugly and very old tshirt of mine instead using one of my jersey tee (i suspect the tshirt used in the tutorial vid is made of jersey or 100% cotton) because I'm afraid that it would fail and instead of getting a new look I'm afraid I will be ruining the tee. So that's why I test it first by using another tee that is neither a jersey or a 100% cotton. And that explain why I didn't get smaller cut-ups strings, and why it's a little rough here and there. But judging from this first attempt, I think I might try a second and maybe a third attempt because I like the result, I like how it gives a crocheted look as well as a little bit edgy look on the tshirt.

Thanks to her, she made it possible for us to (at least) create a tshirt similarly like Adam Saaks's creations. Well, it's just a basic tutorial, but with some creative thinking and imagination I strongly believe you could also create what Adam Saaks does. Why don't you give it a try? I mean it's just a tshirt and a scissor, right? ^o^

Style Inspirations / Lookbook

I was just finishing the HairZing review/giveaway on my other blog TIGERLILY'S BOOK when I suddenly had a really bad gastro! Oh shoot...my stomach feels weird, I vomit (sorry if *tmi), and then my body feels really bad I need to take a rest. So here's a quick short post for you. Some inspirations from my personal lookbook which I gathered online :)

I always wanted to try a button down style but haven't tried any because I find that most of the button down shirts that the market offered are always a little big on me, and since I'm petite so I'd prefer a fitted ones which are hard to find (at least for me). Until I found a perfect button down I'm gonna have to save this inspirational page ^o^

I also always wanted to try a blazer style which I once mention in my previous post, but I doubt if I can pull it right ;p I personally like this blazer style of this fellow weardrobe user: Beth from b.jones style. I like the way she uses a drop of color that shines throughout her entire outfit. The color palette in this one is just gorgeous. And I love the jewelries she's wearing too! Bold yet laid back and chic.

It was love at first sight when I saw this pic on weardrobe. I like everything she wears here. It screams boho meets casual chic. This is from user Buffalo Stance from the blog with the same name. I especially love the jacket and all that gold accessories she wore. I must get a gold bangle like that, stats! (oh and don't forget her vintage furry bag!)

Maximize what you have! As many other fashion bloggers tell you, sometimes you just have to maximize what you already have to make another new outfit. And this is exactly what Rebecca from See You in Sweden did in her chicblog on Chictopia. Did you notice that the grey fab dress she's wearing is actually a big-sized sweater of her?? Yes, she's that genius! I actually thought the whole outfit she's wearing is a dress itslef, and how wrong am i. Now this is actually a self-create outfit that we all can try at home ^o^

and there's always a room for vintage style! Yes to me, please!
I found this lovely girl via Flickr wardrobe_Remix group. Her name is Andrea from A Cat of Impossible Color, I am so delighted I found her blog because I am so adoring her style! :D I will definitely gonna friendly stalk her outfit from now on :)
